winesave ®

FMS imports and distributes winesave ® for keeping opened wine, champagne and whisky perfectly for 10 weeks. It is totally inert and consists of 100% Argon gas - 2½ times heavier than air. It settles down on top of the wine, creating a barrier between the wine and the oxygen.

Now you can recapture the moment with winesave ® as the gold standard when it comes to protecting opened wine.

"Recapture The Moment"

How to use it

Watch this video How to use winesave ® which illustrates the ease of using winesave ® while saving your wine, whisky and champagne. Note that this video was done before January 2013 after which winesave ® increased the guarantee from 50 to 130+ applications per can.

Step 1 Fit the rubber tube extension (provided) on the nozzle on the top of the canister.

Step 2 Insert the tube into the wine bottle so that the tip is 2 - 4cm above the wine, facing the side of the bottle. This will prevent the wine being splashed by discharging gas. Press the nozzle for 1 second. You will hear a distinct hiss as the gas is released, else the can is empty.

Step 3 Replace the bottle cap, cork or stopper and store the bottle upright. Avoid tipping or shaking the bottle.

The ideal storage temperature for unopened wines is 13-16°C with 75% humidity.

What the Experts say...

This video tells you what all the experts say of winesave ®. What the experts say

Philippe GUIGAL, Directeur General & Oenologue of E. GUIGAL, producer of more 100-point Robert Parker wines than any other single wine cellar, has given his unqualified support to winesave®.

· "winesave actually works perfectly for open bottles"

Jancis Robinson, OBE, Master of Wine, and wine correspondent of the Financial Times, reported on her "Purple Pages" website:

· " there is a new and extremely simple product available that seems to be more effective than its predecessors for keeping wine fresh in an opened bottle. Winesave is one of those large aerosol cans but this time filled with argon gas. I have found it pretty good at preserving even delicate old red burgundy over a week. This Australian invention is now available at... UK stockists for about £20 a go, which is enough to save dozens and dozens of bottles".

Robert Parker Jr., Chevalier dans l'Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur (France), Commendatore (Italy), Gran Cruz de la Orden del Mérito Civil (Spain), world-renowned wine critic, focusing mostly on Northern California and Bordeaux 'en primeur' wines, endorsed winesave® as the Official Wine Preservation System for the Ultimate Parker in Asia Event since 2010.

Ben Edwards, President, Sommeliers Australia, Consultant sommelier, Director & Editor, The Wine Guide

· "I opened a bottle of Hunter Shiraz to taste in late November and immediately closed with winesave®. Just opened it to have a look (2.5 months later) and the wine is as fresh as a daisy. It just works."

Greg Melick, Vigneron and International Wine Judge

· "At last an effective wine saver that really works! It just happens to be called "winesave ". I have been carrying out some tests with grand crus etc and because it is Argon and sits atop the wine I have had no problems with wines stored up to 10 days."

David Burkitt, Vintage & Vine

· "I tried it on the most fragile wine in my portfolio - one that is always undrinkable the day after opening. I had a third of a bottle left over at 5pm, winesaved it then looked at it three or four days later and it was perfect. I want all my sales reps using it."

Michelle Lynch, Lento, South Yarra, Australia

· "winesave® has absolutely revolutionized the way we serve wine in this restaurant. And it has totally eliminated waste for us. Wonderful."

Fab Nicolao, Director, Food & Beverage, Village Roadshow Cinemas, Australia

· "Thank you for introducing us here at Village Roadshow to your wonderful product. With over 20 wines by the glass in our 9 locations wastage was one of our biggest issues. No longer since the introduction of winesave®. It has changed our world for the better!"

Marcus Boyle, Restaurant Manager of Tippling Club Singapore

· "winesave® allows us to offer more wines by the glass, it guarantees consistent quality for extended periods of time after the wine is open."

Sam Kim, Sam Kim Consulting: Wine writer, Senior Wine Judge at the NZ International Wine Show, New World Wine Awards, Royal Easter Show Wine Awards, Liquorland International Wine Competition & Cuisine Magazine

· "I have used winesave® for the last few weeks on many bottles and found it to be indispensable. It is a tremendously useful tool for all wine lovers, and I will most definitely continue to use and recommend it when I can!"

Tony Harper, The Wine Emporium Weekly Newsletter, Australia

· "I reckon I've mentioned this in a past email, but I've been having such a good time with the gadget that I figured it was worth another plug. Being, at best, a half-bottle over-dinner chap I'm traditionally quite cautious about what bottles I open (particularly on a school night). And while I maintain a healthy skepticism about most wine gadgets, I'm happy to admit the merit in this one. It keeps most bottles looking fresh and drinkable for well past a week. The wines certainly change somewhat - just as they do in the glass - but they maintain their vitality. I guess the wine-adventurous could have several bottles on the go at once - a sort of at-home-wine-bar!"

Dawn Davies, Head Sommelier, Selfridges UK

· "After trying winesave once I have been totally converted. It is great to have an affordable home winesave® device that actually works and keeps the wine for a good length of time. I'm sure will be a must have for every wine lover."

Andrew Navakas, Melbourne, Australia

· "I am impressed - I love it. It will change my consumption patterns for the better (both from a health & interest viewpoint at home - I no longer feel 'obliged' to finish a bottle, and feel comfortable at having many bottles open on any night). I was the cellar master at Wine & Food Society of Victoria for about ten years and am now evangelising your product to all my wine loving friends - it is simple and perfect. Wishing you great success in the future."

Mark Best, Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide's 2010 Chef of the Year Three-hatted Marque Restaurant

· "We have been using winesave® for a few months now and think it is great."

Stephen James, Manager-Winemaking and Viticulture, Voyager Estate

· "I'm happy to open a really good bottle if I feel like a glass or two when otherwise I probably wouldn't through fear of not wanting to waste the remainder."

Frans van Daalen, a client since 2012 and ardent collecter of red wines, wrote:

· "I purchased Winesave canisters end of last year and am very satisfied with the product."

Gene Lindsay, Director of Supremo C, wrote:

· "Seems to be working well thus far. Orders are increasing exponentially."

Mike Edgar, a wine connoisseur of note, commented in June 2014:

· "It works wonderful! I went to Italy and 2 weeks later the wine was still perfect!"

Nicola Tipping, Sales & Marketing Manager, Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines, said:

· "I tried it. After a week it was still fresh."

Comparative Product Information

Products claiming to preserve opened wine fall into four broad categories:

1. Delivering pure argon

These products, including winesave®, simply work. The science which validates this claim is simple; argon is both inert and heavier than air. What is unique about winesave®, which distinguishes it from all other argon products, is the packaging. winesave® uses an aerosol canister. Previously the technology required to contain argon under pressure in an aerosol did not exist.

2. Delivering other gases & combinations of gases

This comprises gas mixtures such as nitrogen with CO² and other blends added for only one reason, to make the resulting blend thick enough to allow packaging in an aerosol can. But nitrogen is not inert and nor is it heavy enough to totally displace the air below it and lay across the surface of the wine. So CO² is added to give it weight. However, CO² tends to make the wine fizzy. Furthermore, anaerobic organisms can metabolize CO² and produce a range of unwanted chemicals, even creating carbonic acid! The end result is a mixture of gases which will interact with the wine and not completely separate the wine from oxygen.

3. Claiming to create a vacuum in the wine bottle

This has been around for a long while. Notwithstanding, the vacuum pump is entirely without merit. Not only can a vacuum not be created in a wine bottle but if it was possible it would be damaging to the wine. It would leach out soluble gases in the wine and change its characteristics. The pumping action too will cause damage by extracting delicate aromatics of the wine. It is entirely without merit.

4. Introducing an object into or onto the wine bottle

Since a tolerance-fit inside the bottle is not possible, there will always be wine around the perimeter in contact with the overlying air. To prevent oxidation, absolutely all of the wine must be separated from the air. Furthermore, a foreign object floating in a wine bottle is quite unappealing.

Effectiveness of each Category on Sparkling Wines

Those products comprising categories 3 and 4 simply won't work for the same reasons that they are either totally ineffective or only marginally effective on still wines. Moreover, a partial vacuum will actually draw out the bubbles and create a still wine. With products in category 2 the gas blends interact with and alter the wine, regardless of whether the bubbles are captured or not. winesave® works just as well on sparkling wines as it does on still wines and for the same reasons. It is, of course, necessary to use a good quality stopper to prevent the loss of CO² which continues to aspirate from the wine.

Restaurant Benefits

Many restaurateurs suggest wastage for wines served by-the-glass would be around 10%, but could easily be as high as 15%. Very busy restaurants with rapid turnover of stock may reduce wastage to around 5%. winesave® virtually eliminates this wastage.

winesave® allows the restaurateur to offer a more varied range of wines by-the-glass, always in good condition. Used in conjunction with a Champagne stopper, winesave® perfectly protects the quality and effervescence of Champagne and sparkling wine. winesave® can also be used for brandies, cognacs, and whiskys to retain the prized aromatics of these drinks.
